From the moment he began his four-year study of ceramic design at the world-renowned Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, Li knew that he wanted to spend his life at the potter’s wheel. He was drawn to Spin for its simple, beautiful designs, and he lists Spin co-founder Gary Wang among his greatest artistic influences, along with Huang ChenMao, Liu Dan and Zeng XiaoJun.

In his own work, he strives to incorporate elements of classical Chinese ceramics while keeping an eye towards the future of the art form. “Chinese culture should be passed down through the generations. It gives us a window into the past, but it is the responsibility of this generation of designers to integrate modern life into Chinese ceramics. We should create masterpieces that beautify and enhance our modern lives.”
